Q:  Who may join the Hayloft Steppers

A: Anyone who is (A) An adult over 18 or accompanied by adult and over 8 and (B) Any member in good standing with another club.  Children under 8 may attend classes pending approval but MUST be accompanied by at least one adult. See MEMBERS and LESSONS

 

Q:  Can I bring my infant to a dance?

A:  Yes, babies and infants are brought to both lessons and dances from time to time however no child may be left unattended while the dancer is on the floor or any other time.  We are not a baby sitting service.  You may bring your own baby sitter or non-dancing relative to care for the child or make arrangements with a club member.

 

Q:  What are DANGLES?

A: Dangles are dog-tag sized medallions designed to be attached to a dancer’s club badge To represent various activities the owner has participated in.  There are several standard badges available however tags may be created for a special event.  Examples are for dancing in a Hawaiian Grass Skirt, All eight members of a set throwing ping-pong ball at the caller after the call “Ping Pong Circulate” or an angle representing helping the caller teach new dancers.

 

Q: What are Dragonwood dances?

A: Dragonwood dances are open to dancers of any or no experience.

 

Q:  What is meant by a 2+2 format?

A:   This means that there will be two square dance tips alternated with two round dances.

 

Q: Who is CallerLab?

A:  CALLERLAB is the international association of square dance callers. It exists to improve square dancing: To recruit, promote, and maintain the square dance activity. CALLERLAB also maintains a suggested list of dancing programs, from Mainstream through C-3A.  You can find their site at: http://www.callerlab.org

 

Q: What are CASDC and WACA?

A: The Connecticut Association of Square Dance Clubs and the Worcester Area Coordinators Association are umbrella organizations for the Connecticut and Massachusetts areas respectively to coordinate the dances between clubs and prevent conflicts between dances.  See WACA and CASDC

 

Q: What is a BANNER CLUB?

A: A BANNER CLUB is one that participates in the practice of visiting other clubs with the intent of “stealing” their banners.  See BANNER RAIDS
